At the inaugural Amazon MX Player StreamNext event in Mumbai on Thursday, the platform revealed an impressive lineup of shows set to launch in 2025, including Mitti Ek Nayi Pehchaan. Ishwak Singh, the lead actor of the show who will be seen playing the character of Raghav, took the stage to speak about his role and the themes that resonated with him.
The series, which delves into the world of agricultural entrepreneurship, intrigued Ishwak when he first encountered the theme. "I was amazed when I was given this theme—what is it that makes someone leave everything behind, their high pay end jobs and take that leap of faith ?" he shared. The show explores the growing trend of urban professionals, especially MBAs, leaving their high-paying jobs in the West to return to their rural roots and invest in farming.
Ishwak, who was raised in an urban setting, found the concept both fascinating and relatable. "I feel like there’s a part of me that longs for that rural connection, but I’m not in touch with my rural roots. I was raised in the city," he admitted. "Through this show, in some way, I got to experience that rural connection."
For the actor, the theme of the show touched a personal chord. "It felt relatable because I, too, left my home and came to Mumbai to pursue my dream," he said. "But this path—this return to farming—is a serious one. I have a lot of respect for those who take the plunge. It’s a very special show, and it’s close to our hearts."
Beyond the compelling narrative of agricultural entrepreneurship, Ishwak highlighted the importance of the team behind Mitti Ek Nayi Pehchaan, which was a key factor in his commitment to the project. "The thing that really got me committed to this show was the team. These are some of the most wonderful people I’ve worked with, and I’m truly thrilled to be a part of this project."
As part of their announcement for 2025, Amazon MX Player revealed a diverse slate of upcoming shows that promise to continue pushing boundaries and providing unique, thought-provoking content to its audience.
