At the teaser launch of Dacoit, Mrunal Thakur spoke about the film with visible excitement, calling it a very different and deeply enriching experience in her career. The actor revealed that Dacoit marks a significant milestone for her as it is the first film she has shot simultaneously in both Hindi and Telugu.
“Yes, Dacoit is a very different film,” Mrunal said. “This is my first film where I have shot in Hindi and Telugu. It has been an amazing experience working with Sesh—he is fantastic. And Anurag sir, it was such a delight. Whatever I did on set felt fantastic.”
Describing the project as a learning space, she added,“For me, it felt like schooling. You get to learn so much. Dacoit is one of those films where I finally got the chance to explore certain shades. I don’t think I’ve had an opportunity like this since Love Sonia. This is the film.” Mrunal also praised director Shaneil Deo, highlighting how his clarity helped her push herself as an actor. “It’s been fantastic working with Shaneil Deo. He is extremely crystal clear about his vision, and I think that’s exactly what an actor wants, someone who keeps pushing you to give your best take.”
Speaking about the film’s genre balance, Mrunal pointed out how Dacoit blends both action and romance.“Earlier this year, action films were trending a lot. Now romance is seeing a rise. This film has both—there’s action and there’s romance.”
For the actor, stepping into action was entirely new territory.“This was very new for me. I was telling Sesh today that this is so new to me. I’ve never done action before. I’ve always watched action being performed on set, but I was never a part of action scenes myself. Because of Dacoit, I’ve gained that confidence.” She revealed that experimenting with genres has been a conscious goal for her over the last two years. “From 2024–2025, my one clear goal has been to experiment with genres, and Dacoit gave me that opportunity. It’s not just a human drama; when it comes to action, it’s something completely new for me. I understood the process of how action scenes are shot.”
Mrunal also spoke about balancing her work between Hindi and Telugu cinema, something she plans meticulously.“I think I’m a very good planner. I love planning things ahead of time. That’s why I make sure I don’t disappoint my Telugu audience and at the same time my Hindi audience.”
