Veer Pahariya, making his debut with the highly anticipated film Sky Force, is all set to portray the role of a real-life hero, Squadron Leader Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya MVC. The film, based on true events, highlights the bravery of Indian Air Force pilots during the 1965 war. In a recent interview, Veer shared his emotions about playing such a significant role, the challenges he faced, and the inspiration he drew from his co-stars, especially Akshay Kumar.
Talking about the monumental opportunity of portraying a real-life hero, Veer described it as a "very big challenge and opportunity." He shared, "It was a huge challenge for me... to play the role of a reel-life hero. Squadron Leader Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya was a valiant soldier who, in the 1965 war, went largely unnoticed for 23 years. It was only after a long time that the world, his family, and the Indian Army came to know of his incredible bravery. It was my good fortune and a matter of pride that I got the opportunity to play such a character."
Veer further emphasized how special it was to connect with the hero’s family. "We were fortunate to meet the family of Squadron Leader Devayya. I met his wife, and it was such an overwhelming moment. To hear their stories and to know how deeply they revered his courage and sacrifice was a humbling experience. We made this film with a sense of pride and respect, and I sincerely hope everyone loves it."
Veer also opened up about how his co-star, Akshay Kumar, inspired him with his fitness and dedication on set. "Akshay sir has been an incredible source of inspiration for me, especially when it comes to fitness and dedication," he said. "We would often have early call times, and he would already be on set, completely present in the moment. Whether it was an emotionally charged scene or a physically demanding one, Akshay sir was always there, setting the tone for the whole unit."
Veer was particularly struck by Akshay’s ability to create an environment that helped everyone get into the right emotional space. "There were scenes where the whole set was in tears. Akshay sir would create such an atmosphere where everyone, including the crew and cast, would feel the gravity of the moment. It’s not just about acting; it’s about creating a connection with the scene, and he did that perfectly."
With Sky Force, Veer Pahariya is stepping into a role that not only marks the beginning of his career but also honors the legacy of a brave Air Force officer.
The film is all set to hit the cinemas on 24th January , 2025.
