Fans of Diljit Dosanjh have been eagerly awaiting his much-anticipated biopic Panjab 95, which was originally scheduled to release on 7th February 2025. However, the excitement has been met with disappointment as the film's release has been officially postponed.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, Diljit shared a heartfelt note along with an image of Sikh activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, whose life the film is based on. The note read, "We are very sorry, and it pains us to inform you that the movie Punjab 95 will not release on 7th Feb due to circumstances beyond our control."
The film, directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, tells the gripping and tragic story of Jaswant Singh Khalra, a courageous Sikh activist who vanished in 1995 after exposing human rights violations during Panjab's militancy era. Khalra’s bravery and relentless fight for justice made him a symbol of resistance, and his story has captivated audiences, making this biopic a highly awaited release.
While the film’s release may have been delayed, Diljit Dosanjh’s dedication to the project and the importance of Khalra’s story remains unchanged. Fans will undoubtedly have to wait a little longer, but the anticipation for the film’s eventual release is sure to remain high.
In the meantime, Diljit is gearing up for his next big project—Border 2, the sequel to the iconic 1997 war drama Border. The film, which began shooting in December 2024, promises to be a grand cinematic spectacle, with a star-studded cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and Diljit himself. Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 will continue the legacy of the original, which was helmed by JP Dutta and portrayed the valor of Indian soldiers during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. With Border 2 set for release on 23rd January 2026, it is shaping up to be another landmark film in Indian cinema.
