Filmmaker Anees Bazmee took to social media today to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the beloved Bollywood rom-com Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. Sharing a nostalgic poster, Bazmee wrote, “21 years of Mujhse Shaadi Karoge – a film that still brings smiles, laughter, and a little bit of madness. Grateful for the love.”

Released in 2004 and directed by David Dhawan, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi starred Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Priyanka Chopra in a riotous love triangle that mixed slapstick comedy with genuine emotional beats. The film became a massive box office hit, grossing ₹565 million and ending up as the fourth-highest-grossing Indian film of the year.

Bazmee’s appreciation for the film is rooted in a long career of crafting crowd-pleasing entertainers. Having started as an assistant director on Prem Rog (1982) under Raj Kapoor and later scripting Dhawan’s Swarg (1990), Bazmee’s understanding of Bollywood's commercial heartbeat makes his nod to Mujhse Shaadi Karogi especially meaningful.

The celebratory poster shared by Bazmee features the film’s signature colors and quirky charm, nodding to its famous title track "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi"—a number that turned cinema entrances into wedding mandaps during its theatrical release. It was a savvy marketing move by producer Sajid Nadiadwala that helped cement the film’s cultural footprint.

Even two decades later, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi remains a go-to favorite for fans of classic masala entertainment—proof that when Bollywood hits the right balance of humor, star power, and heart, the results are timeless.
