Raashii Khanna, who plays an important role in the upcoming film Aghathiyaa, spoke about her experience and insights on the movie during a press conference held in Mumbai. The film, a unique blend of horror and fantasy, is set to offer audiences a fresh and engaging cinematic experience. Khanna, who plays the character of Veena, an architect, highlighted the novelty of the film and its potential to offer a new experience for viewers.
Raashii Khanna described Aghathiyaa as a one-of-a-kind film in the horror genre, stating, “Our film is a horror fantasy... this is the first film where horror and fantasy have been combined together.” She explained the significance of the film’s visual effects (VFX), which play an essential role in bringing this unique genre blend to life. “That’s why the VFX work is extremely important in the film,” she said. “I’ve never seen a film in this horror genre like this before. I think it will be a new experience for our audience.”
When asked about her personal beliefs, Raashii shared her thoughts on the existence of the supernatural. “If there is God, then I also believe in ghosts,” she stated. “I believe that ghosts do exist.” She expressed that films, especially horror films, are a way for her to explore and understand the supernatural. “Through films, we can see and experience these things,” Raashii added. “I love working in horror films because of this reason.”
Raashii emphasized that Aghathiyaa is not just a typical horror film but also a movie with a strong storyline and meaningful message. “The story is the hero of our film... there is a very good message in it,” she explained. Her character, Veena, is an architect, and she highlighted that the film combines horror and fantasy elements within a strong narrative framework. “In a good story, there is horror and fantasy... it will be a great experience for the audience,” she said.
Khanna also encouraged families to watch the film, as she believes that it will appeal to all age groups. “There are very few films that you can watch with your family, and this is one of them,” she said. “This is not a horror film that children cannot watch... it’s a horror fantasy, and kids will enjoy it too.”
Reflecting on her journey as an actor, Raashii shared how she has grown with experience. “When I was a new actor, I didn’t know how to say ‘cut.’ When I would get into the character, I would stay in it, and saying ‘cut’ didn’t come naturally to me,” she recalled. “But as I gained experience and grew as an actor, I realized that saying ‘cut’ is very important. Now, when I complete my role, I finish it, and then I say ‘cut.’”
After 4 years delays, Aghathiyaa is scheduled to be released in theatres on 28 February 2025.
