Actor and writer Soha Ali Khan, along with Jim Sarbh, attended the 16th Edition of Mumbai Litfest 2025, where she shared insights on her acting ambitions, love for reading, and parenting philosophies.
When asked about extending her writing skills to screenplays, Soha was clear: “No, I don’t wish to write a script, but I am ready for auditions. I want to play the role of a detective. If there is any director or producer out there, I wish to act; I don’t wish to write scripts.”
She also revealed her favorite genre of books, saying, “I like murder mysteries a lot. Someone needs to die, and I don’t want to know who the murderer is.”
On the importance of reading, Soha emphasized, “It is very important to read. I am happy where my daughter Inaya is studying; they put a lot of emphasis on reading. Playing outside, at least for one or two hours, getting proper sunshine, getting vitamin D — all these things are important for child development. I think we as parents learn more from our kids than kids from us. I am learning something new from my daughter. I mean, she goes to school to learn — what about me? So I think it’s important for everyone to read.”
Soha’s latest on-screen venture was the horror film Chhorii 2, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on April 11, 2025. In the film, she played Daasi Maa, a vampire cult leader, a role that demanded heavy prosthetics and marked a bold departure from her previous work.
Whether it’s experimenting with intense horror roles or aspiring to become a detective on-screen, Soha Ali Khan continues to showcase her versatility as an actor while highlighting the importance of reading, learning, and parenting in her personal life.
