Mumbai recently hosted the National Fitness & Wellness Conclave 2025, a celebration of India’s growing focus on health and wellness under the Fit India Mission. The star-studded event brought together Bollywood celebrities, sports icons, and wellness advocates, including Rohit Shetty, Harbhajan Singh, Saina Nehwal, Jackky Bhagnani, Saiyami Kher, Karan Tacker, and Preeti Jhangiani.

During a media interaction, filmmaker Rohit Shetty addressed the ongoing issue of steroid use among youngsters. He said, “Steroids are easily available hence people are using it; I don’t think steroids are required for everyone. I think one should have a correct trainer, nutritionist or doctors, to do it correctly, but I don’t think youth need it just to look fit and good; to have a good body one shouldn’t use steroids. I am totally against it.”

Shetty stressed the importance of natural fitness, particularly for those in physically demanding professions. “If you don’t have fitness, you might not achieve it, especially when you’re in field jobs, sports, film industry, construction, or similar areas. Fitness is most important; health is the most important for people in field jobs,” he said. Highlighting the Fit India Mission’s significance, he added, “It is a good initiative, and our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken it. I think we should take this forward seriously. This is not just for us, but for all coming generations — our future, our country’s future.”

Addressing the younger generation, Shetty emphasized responsible guidance: “The message for younger generation: take guidance, take correct guidance. Fitness is very simple, even for people who aren’t athletes. Everyone is trying to complicate the theory of fitness, but it’s simple — eat correctly, workout correctly, and take plenty of sleep. It’s not rocket science; it should be part of life.”

Rohit also highlighted the role of fitness in his own career, particularly performing stunts. “To do stunts, one should be fit, and I was asked to join the event because of my fitness, not movies. Fitness is the most important thing to do stunts in movies,” he said.

By condemning steroid use and advocating a holistic, disciplined approach to fitness, Rohit Shetty reinforced his commitment to the Fit India Mission and inspired the younger generation to prioritize health naturally.
