Marvel Studios is back with a bold new twist on superhero storytelling — and this time, the cape comes with a script. The first official trailer for Wonder Man has just dropped, teasing a witty, meta, and deeply self-aware look at fame, acting, and life behind the Hollywood mask, all set within the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. The live-action series is set to premiere January 27, 2026, exclusively on Disney+.
Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, the series centers around a struggling actor navigating auditions, rejection, fame, and his own identity — until he lands a life-changing role: the lead in a reboot of Wonder Man, a classic superhero franchise from his childhood. The catch? He’s playing Wonder Man in a world where superheroes are real.
This cleverly crafted series takes a “show within a show” approach and pairs Simon with none other than Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery — the washed-up thespian from Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi — who becomes both mentor and mischief-maker. The unlikely duo bonds over their shared passion for the stage, the screen, and second chances.
The series also stars Demetrius Grosse, Lauren Glazier, Byron Bowers, and more in supporting roles, hinting at a layered ensemble navigating the chaos of celebrity culture in the Marvel universe. Expect cameos, in-jokes, MCU callbacks, and a lot of satire about Hollywood’s obsession with superheroes — all wrapped in a very real emotional journey about identity, art, and reinvention.
Created by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Community), the show is written by Guest and co-directed by Cretton and Stella Meghie (The Photograph).
