After making a splash in the digital world with The Archies, Khushi Kapoor, the daughter of late legendary actress Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor, is all set to make her silver-screen debut with Loveyapa. The young debutante, who has quickly garnered attention for her charming presence, recently shared her thoughts on choosing a romantic comedy for her big-screen entry.
Khushi confessed that rom-coms have always had a special place in her heart. “It is my second movie, but generally I think I gravitate towards watching rom-coms, in my life also, and I love watching sweet fluffy romantic movies, old Bollywood films as well, so naturally I think I gravitated towards a film like that,” she said. She also highlighted how the character she plays in Loveyapa was a key factor in her decision, noting how different the role was from her own personality. “The character was quite different from me, in real life, so that’s kind of what drew me to her,” she added, hinting at the unique challenges and nuances the role brought to her acting debut.
Loveyapa tells the story of a couple who, on the brink of marriage, decide to swap phones for a day, only to uncover hidden secrets that could alter the course of their relationship. The film is an official adaptation of the Tamil hit Love Today, and Khushi's character is at the heart of this emotionally charged, yet light-hearted, tale. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film features a stellar ensemble cast, including Ashutosh Rana, Kiku Sharda, Grusha Kapoor, Tanvika Parlikar, and many others.
Speaking about her experience working with such a talented cast, Khushi expressed gratitude and awe. “There are so many talented people in the film, you learn so much. Initially, with Ashutosh Rana Sir, I was a bit intimidated because he has such a presence, but he is so fun to work with, and he keeps giving as an actor. You learn so much,” she shared, emphasizing the collaborative nature of the project and the valuable lessons she absorbed on set.
Produced by a powerhouse team including Kalpathi S. Aghoram, Kalpathi S. Ganesh, Kalpathi S. Suresh, Pradeep Ranganathan, Srishti Behl, Bhavna Talwar, and Madhu Mantena, Loveyapa is slated for a theatrical release on February 7, 2025. As Khushi embarks on her journey into the world of films, Loveyapa promises to be a delightful introduction to her cinematic career, giving fans a taste of her effortless charm and undeniable screen presence.
With a compelling story, a talented cast, and Khushi Kapoor at the helm of the rom-com, Loveyapa is one to look out for this February. It’s set to bring both laughter and heartfelt moments to the big screen, making it an ideal treat for all the romantic movie lovers out there.
