Jio Studios is all set to stream its much-anticipated film The Storyteller, premiering on Disney+ Hotstar from January 28. The film explores the timeless question: Asli kahaanikar kaun hai, jo kahaaniyan sunata hai ya phir jo use likh leta hai? The trailer introduces Paresh Rawal as a gifted storyteller who refuses to write down his tales, preferring to share them orally instead. On the other hand, Adil Hussain plays a businessman struggling with insomnia, who hires Rawal's character to narrate stories to him in hopes of finding solace in sleep. However, the arrangement soon takes a dark turn. Adil's character starts passing off Paresh’s captivating stories as his own, ultimately finding great success. This betrayal sets the stage for an emotional journey of self-discovery and redemption, as Paresh’s character grapples with the shock of his stolen creativity.
Directed by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, The Storyteller delves into the complexities of creative ownership, identity, and the consequences of exploitation.
