Vertical just dropped the trailer for I Don’t Understand You, and it’s giving major “rom-com goes wrong in rural Italy” energy — in the best, most cringe-hilarious way possible. Directed and written by Brian Crano and David Joseph Craig, this comedy-of-errors stars Nick Kroll and Andrew Rannells as an American couple whose pre-baby Italian getaway turns into a pasta-flavored panic spiral.
It all starts as an idyllic vacation — romantic dinners, scenic roads, espresso-fueled walks — but things quickly unravel when their rental car lands in a ditch (cue torrential downpour and zero cell service). Lost in the Italian countryside with basically no language skills, these two soon-to-be dads are forced to confront not only their surroundings, but their simmering relationship issues. Spoiler: Google Translate won’t help you when your emotional baggage is heavier than your carry-on.
Rounding out the cast are Amanda Seyfried, Morgan Spector, Nunzia Schiano, Paolo Romano, and Eleonora Romandini, adding local flavor and comedic chaos to the misadventures. Between awkward encounters, cultural misunderstandings, and maybe a little existential unraveling, this film promises laughs, heart, and the occasional “WHAT ARE WE EVEN DOING HERE?!” moment shouted into the void.
