In a surprising turn of events, Dhanush’s highly anticipated directorial venture Idly Kadai has opted out of the April 10 release clash with Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly. The actor-director announced the new release date via a social media post, revealing that Idly Kadai will now hit the screens on October 1, 2025.
The film stars Dhanush alongside Nithya Menen, who reunite after their heartwarming performance in the 2022 hit Thiruchitrambalam. This marks Dhanush’s 52nd film as an actor and his fourth directorial project, with music composed by the versatile GV Prakash.
Idiy Kadai is said to be a family entertainer, diverging from Dhanush’s recent action-packed films. The film’s poster hints at Dhanush playing the role of Sivanesan, the owner of an eatery named Idli Kadai, sparking curiosity about the story. Reports suggest that Ashok Selvan will have a pivotal role, while Arun Vijay is rumored to play the antagonist.
Meanwhile, Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly, initially set for a Pongal release, has been rescheduled to April 10, 2025. Directed by Adhik Ravichandran, the action thriller features Ajith in a triple role and Trisha as the female lead.
Dhanush’s production house, Wunderbar Films, is backing Idli Kadai alongside Dawn Pictures, marking the latter’s maiden venture into film production.
Fans are eagerly looking forward to Dhanush’s pan-Indian Telugu film Kubera, directed by Sekhar Kammula, alongside Rashmika Mandanna, Nagarjuna, and Jim Sarbh. The socio-drama will be released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, with music by Devi Sri Prasad and cinematography by Niketh Bommi.
With Idly Kadai set for an October release and Kubera on the horizon, Dhanush continues to captivate audiences with his diverse cinematic journey.
