At the trailer launch for Ek Badnaam Aashram Season 3 Part 2 on Wednesday, Bobby Deol shared heartfelt insights into his journey of portraying Baba, the central character in the series. Reflecting on his experience working with director Prakash Jha, Bobby recalled how the opportunity to collaborate with him felt like a dream come true.
He said, "The moment I heard Prakash Ji’s name, I thought to myself, 'This opportunity is finally here.' I had been wanting to work with him for years. I remember many years ago, we spoke during the dubbing of Gupt at BR Studios, but things didn’t fall into place at that time. After all those years, when I walked into his office, I was nervous. As an actor, there’s always this fear of rejection."
Bobby went on to explain how, despite his initial doubts, Prakash Jha encouraged him to step into the shoes of Baba. “When Prakash Ji told me to play Baba’s role, I wondered how I would pull it off since I had never played anything like this before. But he said, 'Believe that you are Baba. Don’t watch any videos. When you’re in front of the camera, just believe in yourself.'”
For Bobby, Aashram has become more than just a role; it has become deeply personal. He shared, "Aashram is very close to my heart. The love and appreciation I’ve received from people because of this show is beyond what I ever imagined. To see the smiles on people’s faces and hear from my family—like my parents and brother—about how much they loved my performance, that’s been the most rewarding part of it all. That’s how close Aashram is to me."
As for the challenges, Bobby expressed that a lack of challenges would have made the experience less exciting. "If there’s no challenge, it doesn’t feel exciting. Every day on set brought something new. Prakash Ji had written the character in such a way that every day felt fresh. He infused so many shades into Baba’s role that it didn’t feel like work to bring them to life. The story itself was so strong that the character felt real. In the beginning, I took diction classes, and gradually, I got comfortable with the role. The whole team was amazing. There was never a moment when I felt stuck or challenged in a bad way."
The cast of Ek Badnaam Aashram Season 3 Part 2 features Bobby Deol, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Aaditi Pohankar, Tridha Choudhury, Darshan Kumaar, Sachin Shroff, Anurita Jha, and Rajeev Siddhartha.
The series is directed and produced by Prakash Jha, with the script written by the PJP Team, Madhvi Bhatt, Sanjay Masoom, and Avinash Kumar. With Ek Badnaam Aashram Season 3 Part 2 set to release on February 27, 2025, audiences are eagerly awaiting its release.
