While promoting his upcoming action thriller HIT: The Third Case in Mumbai, Natural Star Nani opened up about the evolving nature of Indian cinema, stressing the need to move beyond regional labels and focus on storytelling that resonates across boundaries.
“Right now, there is no such thing as North film or South film,” Nani remarked. “Right now, it’s just good film or bad film, and this is the only difference. Today, when a movie releases, through social media someone hears, ‘It’s such a good film’—regardless of the region or language, people want to watch. So we just need to make it available. The audience is more open today. They want to watch a good film, and it doesn’t need to be in their local language—and that is a good thing.”
Nani believes this cultural shift is a major turning point for the Indian film industry. “This kind of change will open endless possibilities for the industry. I look at it as a very positive sign,” he said. “I am trying to make films which are relatable to all kinds of audiences.”
Returning as Arjun Sarkaar, a sharp and intense investigator in the HIT Universe, Nani also spoke about what made stepping back into the role feel seamless. “Playing Arjun Sarkaar wasn’t tough because the way it is written, the character is there, well defined on the paper, and that made my job easy,” he shared, praising the work of the writing team.
HIT: The Third Case is the latest installment in the acclaimed investigative thriller franchise, directed by Sailesh Kolanu. With a gripping narrative, a powerful performance by Nani, and a talented ensemble cast including Srinidhi Shetty, Rao Ramesh, and Brahmaji, the film is poised to make waves across regions when it hits theatres worldwide on May 1, 2025.
