Veteran actor Sunny Deol, who is receiving immense love for his latest film Jaat, opened up in a heartfelt and unfiltered conversation about his journey in the industry, his love for cinema, and why he doesn’t let the pressure of the box office weigh him down.

Despite spending over four decades in Indian cinema, Sunny Deol remains as energetic and passionate as ever. Reflecting on his 42-year-long career, the actor shared:“I didn’t even realize that 42 years have gone by. It still feels like I’ve just started working. Everything I’m doing still feels like I’m doing it for the first time. The day it starts feeling like it’s been too many years, I’ll stop working.”

Sunny’s enthusiasm is infectious. He believes the secret lies in loving your craft and staying true to it:“No matter how things are, we have to love our job and do it with honesty. That’s exactly what I’m doing, and I’m really enjoying it.”

Unlike many, Sunny doesn’t let the burden of box office expectations affect his mindset. For him, the responsibility lies in staying true to the story and the character:“I don’t treat it like a responsibility. Real responsibility is what you carry at home, and that you have to shoulder. This (cinema) is not that. Here, your job is to play your character well — that’s your responsibility. What happens beyond that is out of your hands.”He added that when choosing a film, it’s the story that draws him in. Once the team is emotionally invested, they hope the audience will feel the same:“Whenever we pick a subject, it’s a story we get deeply involved in. And when we get involved, we hope the audience will as well — because we’re part of the audience too.”

Talking about Jaat, he acknowledged the comparisons to his blockbuster Gadar 2, but emphasized that this film has its own identity:“This film is coming after Gadar, which people loved so much. So there’s confidence that audiences will enjoy this one too. There’s no Tara Singh here, but there is a Jaat.”

Sunny also opened up about working with Randeep Hooda and Vineet Kumar Singh, praising both for their talent and warmth:“I’ve worked with many actors, but here, a beautiful bonding happened — genuinely. I enjoyed every moment of making this film. It felt like a family. They’re such fine actors, and that’s when great work becomes possible. That’s the confidence with which we’re saying — we’ve done our best. Our director gave us a strong subject and did an amazing job. The producers gave it their all. We all trusted the director’s vision.”
