The trailer of Dug Dug, helmed by debutant filmmaker Ritwik Pareek, is finally out—and it promises a wildly unique cinematic ride. Backed by a powerhouse lineup of executive producers including Anurag Kashyap, Nikkhil Advani, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Vasan Bala, the film instantly grabs attention with its unusual premise and intriguing storytelling style.

Inspired by true events, Dug Dug dives into the strange yet fascinating story of a village where a deceased man’s motorbike becomes the center of blind faith. According to locals, the bike has the power to grant wishes—but only if devotees pray to it and offer alcohol. What begins as a bizarre belief soon snowballs into something much bigger, as “miracles” start happening and the phenomenon evolves into a full-fledged, commercialised religion. It’s a concept that feels both absurd and eerily believable.

The trailer hints at a gripping narrative layered with satire, exploring how faith can sometimes blur the lines between belief and business. With its grounded setting and raw storytelling, Dug Dug seems to question societal tendencies while keeping viewers hooked with its offbeat tone. The film features performances by Altaf Khan, Gaurav Soni, Yogendra Singh, and Durga Lal Saini, bringing authenticity and freshness to the screen.

Produced under Bottle Rocket Pictures by Prerna Pareek and Ritwik Pareek, the film is set for a theatrical release in India in association with Flip Films, led by Ranjan Singh. Despite being a debut project, Dug Dug has already made waves on the global stage, earning recognition at prestigious film festivals around the world.

The film premiered at the renowned Toronto International Film Festival and went on to be showcased at several international platforms including the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, and the International Film Festival of Kerala. Such a strong festival run has only heightened anticipation around the film’s release.

With its eccentric plot, festival acclaim, and backing from some of the most respected names in the industry, Dug Dug looks set to be one of the most intriguing indie releases to watch out for. If the trailer is anything to go by, audiences are in for a thought-provoking ride that blends dark humour with sharp social commentary.
