Shriya Pilgaonkar, daughter of actors Sachin and Supriya Pilgaonkar, is set to enter filmdom with her father’s Marathi directorial Ekulti Ek.
“Experience-wise I am a beginner but I think it’s a wonderful time to be in the industry. There is so much happening, so much changing. I feel
proud that I am doing my first film with my father,” Shriya says.
Sachin had started his acting career as a child artist with the Marathi film, Ha Maza Marg Ekla. He went on to do films like Geet Gaata Chal and Nadiya Ke Paar, besides doing popular TV shows.
Sachin’s new directorial Ekulti Ek traces the relationship of a father and daughter. “Ekulti Ek is very special for me because Indian film industry has completed 100 years and my father has completed 50 years in this industry,” she said.
Sachin is equally happy about Shriya’s launch. “We (me and wife Supriya) thought of making a film to introduce our daughter, but then thought, ‘will she be able to do it?’ Because she has never been to an acting school and never faced camera,” Sachin said. “But we realised that she will do it because she is our daughter,” said Sachin.
