
In a move that can make film watching a less expensive experience and prove to be a delight for movie buffs — provided multiplexes pass on the benefit to consumers.To boost the prospects of multiplex cinema halls Uttar Pradesh government decided to free entertainment tax on cinema in multiplexes,ignoring single screen theater. This has brought the single screen theater’s future in a question mark. While the family crowd has mostly shifted to the multiplexes, single-screen theaters in the city are struggling to find takers. These multiplexes are located mostly in malls where people can shop, eat and watch a movie. Now the the tax free policy of Uttar Pradesh government has forced to single screen owners to shut down their business. With a slew of multiplex theaters burgeoning in the city, old and single-screen theatres such as Bhagwan talkies,heera talkies, sanjay talkies and some are still struggling to survive, there are other theaters like Bharat cinema, Rajashri, Manjusri,Raghunath,Tulsi,Sri Ram Mandir has already closed.
