Sources now confirm that Bhansali has narrowed down on dimpled dame Deepika Padukone for the female lead in the film. It seems that Bhansali was keen to have an A-list actress play the part and had approached Katrina Kaif for the role, but as she was busy with other projects, Bhansali decided on roping in Padukone for the role.Ram Leela is a desi version of the famous tragic romance Romeo And Juliet, that is set in Gujarat.It seems like Deepika is again treated second hand. Earlier, Deepika is seen accepting ‘Second Hand Jawani’ (from cocktail) which was originally shoot for Kareena in the movie Agent Vinod.
