It's been almost three months since Mohanlal's last Malayalam release and looks like the actor is in no hurry. A source close to him tells us that after his short vacation in Brazil, Mohanlal will first join the set of his Kannada film, Ninnindale, to complete the remaining portions.

Meanwhile, back home, the actor has the much-awaited spinoff of Manichitrathazhu, titled Gitanjali, that will go on floors by July 6 in Trivandrum. "Mohanlal will only join by July 13, after completing the work of his Kannada film with Puneet Rajkumar," says our source.

There was speculation that some of the top actresses like Rima Kallingal and Meera Jasmine and debutants from Bollywood were in the running to star as the lead in Gitanjali  However, its scriptwriter Dennis Joseph tells us that they have casted a Malayali newcomer for the role but won't reveal anything more until the film starts rolling.
