The pictures of Pooja Gandhi in character for her next role as Abhinetri seem to bear astriking resemblance to yesteryear actrss Kalpana. The tagline of the film — the tragedy of a legend — reinforces this perception. But the actress herself sounds bewildered with the comparison. "I take it as a compliment to be compared to someone as talented and beautiful as Kalpana. But who said Abhinetri is about Kalpana?" asks Pooja, adding, "I've never said I am playing Kalpana. My character is an actress from the 50s and 60s, but that does not mean that I am playing one particular actress. This film is a work of fiction, inspired by the lives of actresses of that time. It is our attempt to present the other side of the coin — things that the common audience knew little of."
Despite her vehement denial, the fact remains that Pooja's pictures from the film bear an uncanny resemblance to Kalpana. "During the photo shoot, people compared the look to many other legendary actresses — including Meena Kumari and Moushumi Chatterjee. But that does not mean the story is about them. Everybody has a story and this one may remind you of many people right through," she says.]
