Distinguished comedy writer Amit Aaryan who has scripted shows like LapataGanj, F.I.R, Tu Mera Hero’ speaks about his stint on television as a writer.

Amit stated, "Comedy has always been an important part of television viewing. When Satellite channels evolved, we had at least one show running on each channel such as Hum Paanch on Zee TV, Family Number One on Sony TV and many more... Yes, comedy has expanded its platform as the audience have started showing keen interest towards the genre."

Elaborating on the challenges writing for adding a comedy element to an on-going serious drama on daily soap v/s comedy sitcoms, Amit added, "Writing for shows purely based on comedy is definitely more challenging that incorporating a comedy element in a serious drama as each and every dialogue has to be relatable in a humorous manner. But daily soaps too, have its share of challenges as the story-line does not focus on comedy alone. There are various emotions portrayed and comedy is a sidekick to the primary story-line. So the tracks have to be written in a way that the scene also gets the same kind of visibility among other scenes."
