Mollywood's popular comedian Mala Aravindan has died at 76. He suffered a cardiac arrest on January 19 and was hospitalised. He breathed his last Tuesday morning at a private hospital in Coimbatore.

A noted theatre personality, Aravindan acted in his first film in 1968. Since then he has been an integral part of the film industry in the state, working in popular films such as "Meesha Madhavan", "Tharavu", "Patalam", and "Thadavara".

Aravindan worked with three generations of Malayalam actors, from Prem Nazir, Jayan, Soman, Mammootty, Mohanlal to Dileep and now the younger actors.
