
Punjabi Cinema has touched yet another high with Nooran – a film by Navtej Sandhu under the banner Sur Saanjh getting an official entry at the 67th Cannes Film Festival 2014 to be held at the prestigious city of Cannes from May 14th to May 25th. Directed and Produced by Sandhu, Nooran is a 30-minutes short punjab film set in 1960’s in Punjab. Nooran depicts that It takes a great effort to win a woman’s heart and it can be won only with love and not by force. The film is inspired by the legendary Balwant Gargi’s story ‘Rabbo Marasan’.
The film features Sardar Sohi as the male lead opposite actress Kul Sidhu, a renowned theatre personality who was appreciated for her role in Gurvinder Singh’s National Award winning Punjabi film Anhe Ghore Da Daan. The supporting cast of Nooran includes Jaswant Jass, Gurinder Makna and Gurbinder Bhatti, all of whom have done a commendable job.
