Initiative of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting clearly indicates that the Government these days is busy in eliminating the monopoly in cable television. The Ministry has asked telecom regulator TRAI to suggest such remedies in cable television sector so that there is hardly any scope of the monopoly. In other words, the regulator in this sector has also called for the Prevention of Monopoly.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tiwari told reporters here on Monday that TRAI has been asked to suggest ways to eliminate monopoly which continues to be present in cable TV sector. This was his replied to the question whether he has taken any regarding the dominance of multi system operators in cable television.
