Leading Telugu channel in Andhra Pradesh ETV, has taken a new initiative to showcase small movies which are unreleased due to some reason.Small filmmakers who are unable to release their movies and sell film rights to TV channels, ETV has started to air those movies every Sunday under ‘ETV Handpicked Movies’ and the amount earned with TV commercials will be shared between ETV and producers.

 

Billa Ranga was the opening movie. ETV CEO Bapineedu said, “ These are special movies made with limited resources and budgets but made by people passionate about cinema. These movies fail to reach out to larger audiences through theatrical screenings due to lack of resources. We want to offer our channel to these filmmakers to encourage and motivate them. We will not only showcase their work, but also share revenues with them.”

Manohar Kesari, Channel Promotional Head said, “We discussed this idea with our advertising fraternity which says this initiative can attract maximum eyeballs as these movies are from different genres and going by the Bollywood trend where content-driven movies are making money, the same can be replicated in southern markets as well.”
