The Broadcasting Content Complaints Council has directed UTV Bindass Channel to run a big font apology scroll once in two hours for 4 days from 12 noon of July 15 till July 18. BCCC has also issued a warning to UTV Bindass for airing objectionable content in two episodes of the show, Emotional Atyachar Season —3, aired on June 25, 2011 and July 2, 2011. The explicit episodes can by no means be aired on the channel in future.
The show runs on the model of a ‘Loyalty Test’ that is conducted by a person on his or her partner with the help of the crew members of the channel who seek to catch the person who is suspected on the grounds of loyalty. The controversial episodes had objectionable explicit content with the words beeped out in a manner that it was clearly audible what the person was saying.
"The portrayal of incidents shown in the programme and the dialogues are rather vulgar and indecent. The visuals and dialogues are clearly unsuitable for children and for unrestricted public exhibition. The episodes in question were found to have been discussing sex openly during prime time. The Council feels that serious issues of privacy are also involved in the present issue," BCCC noted in a first of its kind order on Wednesday.
The Council found the episodes infringing not only the self regulatory content guidelines of the Indian Broadcasting Foundation but also the Constitution.
