Musa Syeed directorial debut “Valley of Saints” is a romantic film set in Dal lake, Srinagar, which also raises an environmental issue surrounding the lake. It won the Sundance Film Festival World Dramatic Audience Award and tied for the Alfred P. Sloan Prize with the American film Robot & Frank.

In war-torn Kashmir, a lakeside city is plunged into a military curfew. Stranded together on breathtaking Dal Lake, a working-class boatman and a beautiful young scientist form an unlikely bond. Non-professional Actors, common local people, faced with real life struggle and as well as reel life struggle, brings out the true mesmerizing neorealism in Valley of Saints. It's a shame that it's taken three years to arrive in U.S. theatres after winning the World Cinema Audience Award and the Sloan Foundation Prize at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.
