The Wrap reports Tom Hardy is being sought to play "En Sabah Nur," which means "The First One" and is also the name for the titular villain in X-Men: Apocalypse, a character first introduced in 1986's "X-Factor" comics.

I went into greater detail as to who this Apocalypse guy is right here as he's the blue fella you saw during the X-Men: Days of Future Past end credit sequence. To put it simply, he's the world's first mutant.

Bryan Singer will return to direct X-Men: Apocalypse for a May 27, 2016 release with Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Hugh Jackman all expected to return.
