Richard Gere, who rose to fame with the film “American Gigolo” in 1980 and American cookbook author, actress, model and television host Padma Lakshmi have called it quits after a super private six month relationship, according to media  source.

The 44-year-old Top Chef host reportedly confirmed in a recent television interview that she is single and a source says they “decided they would be better as friends.” Both Richard and Padma have been very busy with work lately.

Richard and Padma‘s started dating back in April after he got a divorce from his wife of eleven years, Carey Lowell.
