American singer-songwriter and actor John Legend, says it's ''only a matter of time'' before he and Chrissy start a family.

John, the nine-time Grammy Award-winning R&B superstar, who married the model Chrissy Teigen in Italy last year, admits he can't wait to become a father for the first time and will be delighted when the brunette stunner falls pregnant.

In recent interview he said: ''We want to have kids, so it's just a matter of time. Whenever it happens, we'll be excited.''

"All of Me" hitmaker says he and the brunette beauty ''try to be together physically whenever we can,'' but are also very focused on their own careers. He added to media source: ''We want each other to be happy, and part of that is being fulfilled in our work and loving what we do.

''We're there for each other.''

John recently admitted it took him a few years to realise Chrissy, 29, was the one. Asked if he fell in love with her the moment they met, he said: ''Not right away. I'm more cautious than that.

''I wasn't like, 'This is the woman I'm going to marry' from day one. For me I'm the kind of person who needs to grow into that feeling. It was probably a couple of years in when I could already see us being together forever.''
