The Wrecking Ball hitmaker - who split from fiancé Liam Hemsworth a year ago - posted a picture of a crying alien surrounded by thought bubbles, entitled "early a.m. drawin", on her Instagram account.

The text surrounding the weird looking alien seems to suggest that she is mourning a lost love.
The thought bubbles make numerous references to a failed relationship, with messages like, "I must go. I will miss yiew (sic)" and "why does love make me cry".

The singer also asks, "Will I ever be happy again" and "Gravity has nothing to do with me falling for you".

Miley followed up the eye-catching images with another drawing of an alien, though this one made no references to love and is instead just seen blowing bubbles.
