Disney beats Pixar two years in a row

News Helpline | February, 23 2015

It is the second consecutive Oscar win for Walt Disney Pictures in Best Animated Feature with this year’s Big Hero-6.  Inspired by a Marvel comic, Hiro, a teenager builds a robot called Baymax and a team of five other droids to take on a rogue robotics professor. It’s set in the fantasy future city of San Fransokyo.
It’s a brilliant and lovable collaboration between Don Hall and Chris Williams, Directors of Pooh and Bolt.
Disney won last year’s Oscars in the same category for Frozen.
This year contenders included How to Train Your Dragon 2 and The Boxtrolls. Pixar is the heavyweight competition for Walt Disney; however, they didn’t come out with any film this year.
The win marks the second victory in a row for Disney in the animation category. Frozen, the hugely popular story of estranged sisters’ reconciliation in an icy dream world, won the Oscar last year, along with best song for Let it Go.
