Matt Damon will star in Alexander Payne’s social satire “Downsizing” and is exiting Legendary Pictures’ “The Great Wall.”
The slightly bizarre storyline will take place in a not-so-distant alternate future in which humans have perfected shrinking themselves as a means of saving resources — namely money. Damon's character will consider undergoing the process when he finds himself down on his luck.
Payne and Taylor won an Oscar for adapted screenplay for “Sideways.” “Downsizing” has not been set up at a studio yet.
Damon is committed to Ridley Scott’s “The Martian” and another installment of “The Bourne Identity” for Universal with Paul Greengrass directing.
