We are releasing the film without any political agenda says Anupam Kher

Anupam Kher says the makers are releasing his film, 'The  Accidental Prime Minister' without any political agenda and with full sincerity.

Anupam Kher interacted with media at Bombay Stock Exchange the release Muhrat of The Accidental Prime Minister film.

When asked if thinks the audience is excited to see him in the get up more than the film, Kher said, "From the trailer's and my get up's point of view, the excitement for the film has increased but at the end of it, it is the film that speaks. So I think the audience will pass its judgment today but we have released the film with sincerity without any political agenda."

"Akshay Khanna has said a very good thing, he had called the film a debate. Not necessarily a controversy," he added.

Since the trailer's release, the film has been surrounded by controversies. Earlier in Jan, Pooja Mahajan, a Delhi-based fashion designer, filed a plea and request a ban on the trailer in court. She suggested the film violates 'Section 416' of the Indian Penal Code as an impersonation of a living character or living persons is not permissible in law.

The Delhi High Court justice Vibhu Bakhru rejected a plea few days later.

Talking about his hard work towards the film, the lead actor said he is very proud of the film.

"In the 35 years of my career, I have never worked any harder than I did on this film. I prepped for 8 months on the role and 3 months on the voice of the character. I am very happy and very proud that we were given the chance for the film's muhurat here in BSE."

Based on the book by the same name, the film is presented by Rudra Production (UK), Bohra Bros in association with Dr Jayantilal Gada (Pen India Limited). The film also features actors Akshaye Khanna as Baru and Divya Seth Shah as Manmohan Singh's wife Gursharan Kaur, the film is scheduled to release on January 11.  

The Accidental Prime Minister is directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte and written by Mayank Tewari.
