Today, line between film and television has become really thin says Ronit Roy

BH Team | April, 29 2017

On Friday, actor Ronit Roy interacted with media ahead of release of his upcoming film Sarkar 3 in Mumbai. During media interaction, Ronit talked about  his opinion on blurring line for actors in films and television, his working experience in Sarkar 3  and his upcoming projects.

On asking about acceptance from bollywood to television actors, he said, “Shah Rukh Khan, Ram Kapoor, Sushant Singh Rajput , Amit Sadh including me , we all started with television. I never planned my career. I started acting by working in films and then moved to television and now eventually I am doing television and films at the same time. It was never easy to make an impact in bollywood. Each film is a challenge but I feel that bollywood never closed their doors to TV actors and now suddenly they opened up their roads television. Now television has grown so big and TV actors are hugely popular so bollywood realized this fact and there was never dearth of good actors on small screen. So I feel eventually talents get recognized so the line between film and television has become really thin”.

Talking about working experience in Sarkar 3 and his character in the film, he said, “It’s been a wonderful, interesting, complex and full of learning journey. In this film, I am working with highly successful and acclaimed director Ram Gopal Varma and young actor like Amit Sadh and legend like Amitabh Bachchan so I couldn’t ask for more. I am already getting reactions from people that this installment of Sarkar will be much better than the earlier ones and it is one of those DVDs which will go in my movie shelf”.

Talking about his role in the movie, he said, “I always prefer good story and my character in the film has to be good. It should be interesting enough to hold audience attention for two hours. I don’t choose roles thinking that audience will like it or not. The role has to convince me as an actor that was the main reason I decided to be part of this movie. In this film, I am playing a character named Gokul Satam, who is Maharashtrian guy. In this film, RGV wanted my dialect to be regular, he wanted someone who has lived in Mumbai to get the tone of Mumbai’s Hindi dialect and that’s how we proceed to establish my character in the film”.

Talking about his future projects, he said, “I am in talks for doing Television or web series and if something turns out well then audience will see me in again on television or in web series. I have completed the shoot of my Next film Lucknow Central which has Farhan Akhtar in the lead and in Munna Michael, I have dance sequence in my introduction scene with Tiger Shroff “.

Ronit has worked in successful television series like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasautii Zindagi Kay and Adalat. He was last seen in Kiara Advani and Mustafa Burmawalla’s Machine in which he played a negative character.
