Tanishaa Mukerji who will be seen playing the role of a journalist in the upcoming biopic of social activist Anna Hazare says she would work for the environment if she had not been an actress.
Asked if she was not an actress, what would she had been? The former ‘Big Boss’ contestant shares she would be an environmentalist.
“If I was not an actress, I would work for the environment. I feel very strongly about nature. I love plants and trees. In my childhood, I had a guava tree so since then my love for the environment is embedded in me.” The actress said.
Talking about her role in her upcoming biopic ‘Anna’ the ‘Neil and Nikki’ actress said, “I have never played a role of journalist so I was quite intrigued. It’s a similar kind of film like Prakash Jha’s Satyagraha. Shashank (Udapurkar) explained me the character, like every journalist, this character is much unbiased about any opinion but while Anna Hazare did the Ramleela movement everyone started to express their own view. So that was the brilliance of Anna Hazare. That’s what interested me.” She said at the poster launch of the film.
“My character who is completely disconnected at first and gradually how she changes over time and she became a part of the movement beside Anna. That’s very interesting and feeling very excited about that.” She added.
The film, which covers Anna Hazare’s agitation at Ramleela Maidan in 2011, also delves into his selfless contribution to the society and how it helps to change the outlook of the people. Since it's a political drama, we asked about the her research for the part, Tanishaa replied, “I used to watch Hindi news channels, read articles and interviews about Anna Hazare.”
“Every reporter has a rhythm. Therefore, I had to speak in a certain way and I got used to it so much that sometime unknowingly I starts speaking in that way.” The 35-year-old actress said.
This is a comeback film of sorts for the actress whose last major film was Sarkar Raj (2008).
