And it’s official, the makers of Badhaai Ho are taking the franchise forward with Badhaai Do and this time around Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar are paired for the first time in Harshvardhan Kulkarni’s directorial. The film has been announced and the shooting starts this mid-year with 2021 release.

The official handle of Junglee Pictures dropped the deeds on the film. It said, “Badhaaiyaan ji Badhaaiyaan. Iss baar do baari kyunki, #BadhaaiDo...Starring @RajkummarRao @bhumipednekar, directed by #HarshavardhanKulkarni and written by #AkshatGhildial @sumadhikary”

Directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni and bankrolled by Junglee Pictures, the second instalment is titled Badhaai Do.

First instalment, Baadhaai Ho was directed by Amit Sharma. It starred Ayushmann Khurrana, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao, Surekha Sikri, and Sanya Malhotra, and tells the story of a middle-aged couple who get pregnant much to the disappointment of their adult son.

Badhaai Ho received positive reviews and was a commercial success. With earnings of over 221 crore against a budget of 29 crore, it emerged as the 9th highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2018. It also won two National Film Awards: Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Supporting Actress for Sikri.

With second instalment featuring two of most stellar performers, Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar, audience can expect nothing but something worthy.

Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao is busy with Roohi Afzana, Ludo, Chhalaang and Untitled film with Abhishek Jain.

As for Bhumi Pednekar, the actress is busy with Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare and Durgavati.
