There are actors like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar who have delivered superhit after superhit but they are never considered for any awards. And then, there are actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui who doesn’t even have a small percentage of their bank balance, but has a flooded award cabinet at home. And for Nawazuddin, it’s not just restricted to awards in India but also international awards. He has now added another award to his kitty bagging the Best Actor award at the New York Indian Film Festival for his unreleased film, ‘Haraamkhor’.
Nawazuddin took to Twitter to share the good news. He uploaded a picture of his award with the caption, ‘This award is certainly an honour, thank you so much #NYIFF’.
He has previously won prestigious awards like National Awards, Filmfare Awards among others. He has previously won the NYIFF award for Dekh India Circus as well won at the Asian Film Awards. Though always known as an actor who thrives in non-commercial independent cinema, his venture into commercial space with Badlapur, Kick and Bajrangi Bhaijaan has made him a complete actor balancing various types of cinema.
NYIFF held between 4 May and 9 May will also showcase Margarita With a Straw, Konkana Sen Sharma’s Saari Raat as well as ‘My Big Fat Bride’ which is the English title for ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’.
Haraamkhor is being produced by filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and Nawazuddin  is cast opposite Shweta Tripathi. It is a love story between a teacher and his student with Nawazuddin playing the teacher and Shweta playing his student.
