Mixed Response From Bollywood Over Kashmir Issue, Article 370

Ravi Sharma | August, 05 2019

Bollywood celebrities such as Vikrant Massey, Vivek Oberoi, Gul Panag praise Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for finally dropping the two key constitutional provisions — Article 370 and Article 35(A) — that give the state of Jammu and Kashmir a host of special rights.

Actor Vikrant Massey just took to his twitter profile and wrote, “Never did I think I’d say this. But, THANK YOU! @BJP4India @AmitShah & @narendramodi...It had to go! #Article370...Those warning of “dangerous consequences” SHAME ON YOU!  #OneNationOneLaw”

Actor Vivek Anand Oberoi has always been an avid supports of Modi regime. He shared, “This is the greatest homage to all those braves martyred for the dream of a United India. Hats off and a big thank you to @narendramodi ji and @AmitShah ji from the heart of each and every patriotic Indian.  #OneIndia #AkhandBharat #JaiHind..Bye Bye #Article370 #35A”

Actor Gul Panag expressed that she hopes the evoking the articles would benefits the lives of people in Kasmir. She wrote, “I do hope that the lives of the average Kashmiri will change for the better in the future. And also, for now, that their connectivity is restored so we can hear what they have to say too. #370Abolished”

The move came amid mounting tension in the state where the government, in a midnight swoop, had put the top political leadership under detention and restricted their movement. It also suspended telecom/internet services in the state.
