Kabaddi is the oldest game, our generation must know, says Ashwini Iyer.

Director Ashwini Iyer who is all excited about her upcoming movie ’Panga’ says that, the old generation knows about the game Kabaddi and they have played women’s kabaddi and men’s kabaddi. According to her today’s generation only knows games like Cricket, Football and Hockey, about Kabaddi they are hardly aware. Through her film she wanted to convey a message that Kabaddi is the oldest game of the country, young generation must know about it.

Conversing on the story of the film Ashwini said, “’Panga’ is not a sports biography, but a human story of real and relatable people. Through my film I wanted to convey a message that Kabaddi is the oldest game of our country. Our old generation knows about the game Kabaddi and they have played women’s kabaddi and men’s kabaddi. But today’s generation only knows games like Cricket, Football, Hockey, Basketball and Volley ball. About Kabaddi they are hardly aware. It’s very important for our young generation to know about this.  I have made this film, but don’t know what will be the consequences. In the film I have also surfaced a planning to our government of India. It consists that at least on the school level like gymnastic, kabaddi should also be made compulsory.”
 
'Panga' is inspired from the life of a national level Kabbadi player from India. It follows her triumphs, struggle and overcoming of stereotypes and reflecting upon the importance of love and family support in order to become successful.

Film ‘Panga’ features Kangana Ranaut, Jassi Gill, Richa Chadda, Neena Gupta and Yagya Bhasin.It is directed by Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, produced by Fox Star Studios.The film is set to theatrically release in India on 24 January 2020.
