I Went Into It With Confused Head For Fitoor - Tabu

Ravi Sharma | January, 05 2016

Actress Tabu is noted for multilayered character portrayal but playing the role of Begum Hazrat was short notice deal at the trailer Launch.

Rekha was roped in play the dark and intense role of Begum Hazrat in Fitoor but due to creative differences she opted out of the movie. Tabu was approached on a short notice for the role, but she knew director Abhishek Kapoor and trust his judgement.

“In this film I had two days to get into this film and character. So I really don’t know what the process was or if there was any process. I just went into it with a confused head because we were shooting the last scenes first. So I trusted my director because I’ve known him since he was sixteen” says Tabu.

"Fitoor" is based on Charles Dickens' novel "Great Expectations" and as seen in the trailer, Tabu plays the role of the begum who is the hurdle that her daughter Firdaus (played by Katrina), has to cross to unite and reunite with her love Noor (played by Aditya Roy Kapur).

With no time, Tabu trusted the director and her internal process to bring the most interesting and multilayered character on screen.

“I guess there is some internal process which I cannot describe but I think it happens as we go in the film” says Tabu.

The film also starring Lara Dutta and Rahul Bhatt, is scheduled to release on February 12.
