Renowned producer from the Disney- UTV Production house Siddharth Roy Kapoor and Minister of State Information & Broadcasting Rajyawardhan Singh Rathore were present at the FICCI Frames event in Mumbai. They were the two who conducted a session about the potential that this industry can further achieve.

Siddharth said, “Minister has since the past few months made comprehensive efforts to reach out to the media and entertainment industry. I thank him for the efforts being considered to address the issues we are facing and the plans to take this industry forward.”

Instead of speaking extensively about the topic, Siddharth posed a few questions to Rathore. The questions raised were about how Indian cinema can be taken to a global level and as successful as the American or UK media and entertainment industries.

He also said, “If films like ‘The Lunchbox’ can do so well at the international stage then there is no reason why other films can’t do that.”

He said, “We have been content with making films for our own audience and aren’t reaching out as much to other countries and continents.”

Siddharth also spoke about the progress China is making in film making. A few years ago, their industry was less advanced than ours but now they are competing with the US market. He is hopeful of something similar happening with Indian cinema in terms of its market reach and revenue.
