Neha Dhupia who is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film ‘Tumhari Sulu’ was present at the #F for Freedom MAMI film festival. During media interaction the actress said, she is not size zero and wouldn’t want to be any other way.

Neha when asked if she thinks Bollywood will ever get accustomed to the different women body types on screen, said “I feel like it already has, the whole Size-Zero phenomena was created by us. When I say us I am talking about press and us as part of media. As long as it’s a healthy body and sends the right message its ok on screen, and of course we need to adapt too. Things are changing, the new F-word is not an abuse, it is ‘Fat’. And you can’t call people that, it is a big taboo. The more we talk about it and don’t shy away from it, that’s when we actually start doing things.”

She further added, “I have seen larger women on screen who are comfortable in their skin. I am not a size zero myself and I don’t think I would want to be any other way. From running marathons to working out every day of my life I am pretty much doing it all so I would like to lead by example.”

While talking about the very low percentage of women working in the film industry, Neha said she was shocked by the number, “It is an astonishing number, I knew there are very few women in the industry as compared to men but I wasn’t aware that the number was that low. This gap needs to be much smaller than 92 %. It’s a scary and very large number. Let’s start it right now, right here at MAMI in this room.”

Neha Dhupia will be seen in ‘Tumhari Sulu’ directed by Suresh Triveni, starring Vidya Balan, Manav Kaul, Neha Dhupia, and  Malishka Mendonsa.

The slice of life comical film is presented by T-series and is scheduled to release on 17th November 2017.
