Gear up for some Ranbir Style Action : Besharam

News Helpline | September, 30 2013

While he has done a variety of roles in the past, Ranbir Kapoor is associated more with romance than action. In 'Besharam', however, the actor has deviated from his usual image and has experimented with some interesting action sequences. His parents Rishi and Neetu Kapoor — who play cops in the film — have also indulged in some funny fight moments. While Ranbir did have some apprehensions about pulling off the action scenes given his lean physique, the makers ensured that everything worked in his favour. Director Abhinav Singh Kashyap explains, "Keeping his leanness in mind, the action scenes have been given a comic touch so that they comes across convincingly. There is no beefed-up Ranbir or villains flying in the air. Amitabh Bachchan is my favourite action hero, and as a kid, I remember a tall and lanky Mr Bachchan entering a villain's den in his trademark style by kicking down doors etc. Here, we have Ranbir doing something similar, albeit in a funny way." Jaaved Jaaferi, according to the director, is also one to watch out for in the film. "A fit and slender Jaaved makes a perfect villain. I feel that a villain's personality should blend with a hero's, and he should be stronger than him. Action is my forte and the action sequences in this film have been well-integrated," adds the director. About Rishi and Neetu, Kashyap says, "Rishi and Neetu have done some incredible action as it's a part of the plot. Believe me, it'll be a treat to watch the entire family onscreen for the first time in this mass entertainer." Besharam, produced by Himanshu Mehra, Sanjeev Gupta and Reliance Entertainment, releases October 2.
