The one studio probably benefiting the most right now amid theatrical and production shutdowns is Netflix, which continues to release a surfeit of new content, both movies and television, straight to streaming.
Netflix is about to release its latest feature film, “Extraction,” dropping on the streamer April 24. The action thriller is the directorial feature debut of Marvel Cinematic Universe stunt coordinator and actor Sam Hargrave starring Chris Hemsworth, Randeep Hooda and Panjak Tripathi.
Actor Randeep Hooda dropped the trailer on his social media profile. He captioned it, “#Extraction only on Netflix April 24...."If there's one word to describe this movie, it would be, "explosive". Catch #Extraction, premieres 24 April, only on Netflix." @Netflix_in @netflix @thesamhargrave @therussobrothers @agbofilms @chrishemsworth @tsigel @ptnewall @leecleary1 @outthayr @danielstevens1 @artoflegitsu @rostacosta @rudhrakshjaiswal1 @dkharbour @golfarahani @priyanshupainyuli @battlecat_stunts_inc @dargan_fire @danlawsonjohnston @matteo__silvi @luca_vannella @tessjosephcasting @indochinaproductions @luca_vannella @tessjoseph19 #joewhelan #tomharrison @nehamahajanofficial”
The film revolves around Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a weathered mercenary whose combat skills are solicited when he’s sent to Bangladesh to rescue an international crime lord’s kidnapped son. Hemsworth’s violent journey confronts him with the worlds of weapons and drug trafficking in a race for survival.
Previously titled “Dhaka” after the capital city of Bangladesh, “Extraction” also stars David Harbour, Derek Luke, and Antwone Fisher.
“Extraction” is written by Joe Russo, who also produces with his brother Anthony Russo under their AGBO shingle.
“Extraction” was shot in Ahmedabad and Mumbai with additional filming in Ban Pong, Ratchaburi, Thailand, and n-location in Dhaka.
