Even as the celebrations of 100 years of Indian cinema are underway in India, seems like the celebration has now gone international. News is that a three-day cultural extravaganza has been planned in Chicago starting from August 30. The event, which will be getting support from the Illinois State Department of Tourism, will have performances from Katrina Kaif and other leading Bollywood stars.
Talking about the event, Monty Saiyed (one of the organizers) said that it was an honour to identify the icons from the Indian film fraternity who have contributed to making the industry successful. Meanwhile, Fred Crespo, (Member of the State Legislature) said that with over 225,000 South Asians in Chicago, it is only appropriate that an event of this magnitude be held there.
Chicago has one of the largest concentrations of South Asians in the country and has a vibrant Indian American community.
