Censor Board is out-of-tune with the country: Udaan director Vikramaditya Motwane

The Anushka Sharma- Neil Bhoopalam starrer action thriller NH 10 has been receiving rave reviews till now from both the critics as well as the audiences. The film has also managed to rake in a substantial amount at the box-office too, with good collections in the opening weekend.

The film’s producers Phantom Films have lent good support to the film in terms of the organization, scripting and shooting processes. One of the co-founders of Phantom Films, Vikramaditya Motwane of Udaan and Lootera fame is happy with the response that the film has received till now.

He credits the content of the film for the good opening weekend. He believes that good content will invariably lead to good word-of-mouth and this works brilliantly for the film. He said, ‘Word-of-mouth is the most important barometer due to which the film works or not. A film with good promotions and marketing can do well only till the first few days and then it’s the word-of-mouth which takes it further. You can see that in the case of Queen which had less than 2 crore collection on first day but it managed to collect more than 60 crores at the box-office.’

When asked about the film’s issues with the Censor Board, he said, ‘The Censor Board is a bit out-of-tune with the country right now. In terms of the moods and opinions and ideologies of the country, they are a bit out-of- sync with that. But I’m hopeful that soon they’ll improve on this aspect. For our film, they passed the film without any major cuts and no one complained about the use of certain words in the film, so I’m happy.’
