Celebrities Charged Under Section 295A

Arrest of Kiku Sharda under section 295A of the Indian Penal Code, has opened up a whole can of worms. Now people are debating, why small screen artist face the wrath, while big screen celebrities get away with everything.

Kiku is not the first actor to be booked under Section 295A. Bollywood biggies like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol along with many have also run into trouble with the same legal clause.

Salman Khan, king of legal troubles, was accused of insulting Muslim sentiments in September 2014, when a model walked the ramp with an Arabic word inscribed on her T-shirt at a fashion show organised by the Bollywood star’s NGO Being Human.

Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri khan faced same legal clause, in 2012, when they co-produced the movie Student of the year, there was a song in the movie, “Radha on the Dance Floor” didn’t go well with audience.

Aamir Khan faced same issues even while filming PK in Delhi, a case was filed against him to hurting religious sentiments.

Sunny Deol, faced music due to Mohalla Assi, he was accused of maligning the image of Varanasi and making fun of popular Hindu beliefs.

And who could forget Akshay Kumar, when he played god in “Oh My God”. An FIR was filed in Rajasthan’s Ajmer city against Kumar and the film’s director, Umesh Shukla, for “hurting the religious sentiments” of Hindus.
